

Builders group hosts 'green' education event

Triad residents will get a chance to learn about environmentally friendly building this weekend as part of the Southern Ideal Home Show.
The Greensboro Builders Association will sponsor Discover Green Day on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the home show. Compact fluorescent light bulbs will be distributed to attendees.
The events include:
Green Building 101: What is Green?: A presentation about green building, products and services by Scott Allred of Precept Construction and Abe Kruger of Sealing Agents, 12 p.m.;
- Improve the Efficiency of Your Home: A presentation on using all 'green' energy to operate your home and using N.C. Green Power as a resource, with Bruce Davis of SIVAD Home, 1 p.m.;
- Remodeling Green: A presentation on making homes more energy efficient, from minor changes to complete remodeling, including the latest on closed crawl spaces, with Steve Batts of Batts Builders and Billy Tesh of CrawlSpace Care Technologies, 2 p.m.;
- Green by Design: A presentation on site design, landscaping and water conservation, with Tim Knowles, landscape architect at Borum, Wade & Associates, 3 p.m.
